How to Learn the Full Nelson Wrestling Move
Here is what you need to do...
Step 1
A full nelson is performed from the top position only.
Step 2
The top wrestler takes their right arm and slides it under the arm of the wrestler on bottom.
Step 3
The top wrestler places his hand, with his arm still underneath the arm, on the bottom wrestlers' neck to create a lever.
Step 4
Simultaneously, the top wrestler slides his left arm under the left arm of the bottom wrestler.
Step 5
While still having both his right and left arms under the arms of the bottom wrestler, and his right hand on the bottom wrestler's neck, the top wrestler places his left hand on top of the bottom wrestler's neck, touching his other hand.
Difficulties people often experience or
parts that need special attention to do it right.
This is illegal, because when you have one arm under and on the neck of another wrestler, you create a lever, which gives you control of the wrestler to push his neck and manipulate his body. If you have two levers, the strength of the top wrestler's levers is far superior to the bottom wrestler's neck, and you could potentially injure the bottom wrestler's neck.
Funny or interesting story about this topic...
My brother lost a chance at a state championship his senior year in hs when the referee mistakenly called a full nelson on my brother. Knowing the illegal move had been called, my brother's opponent layed on the mat until injury time was up and won be disqualification. His dad removed him from the tournament.
When did you first do this & how did you get started?
